Certainly good comments, but I would disagree with the above due to the photo Title, "Grandmother"....the granchild is the defining relationship to the subject so it was pulled off perfectly as the image comes across to me as a caring grandmother enjoying the simplicity of holding her young grandchild. Should have been a top 3 (ribbon) finish in my opinion.

Fun shot, and beautifully processed. I'm unsure of how much of the grandmother's personality this shows though - to be picky - it perhaps rather puts her down, as though she were only defined by her relationship to her grandchild. Perhaps we need something more of her hands?

The soft light and subtle grays in this shot take some time to work their magic. But if we give the photo time to work the echoes between the faces - their shapes, textures, and directional gazes - draw us into the life of the photo and it comes alive. Very nice!
