Challenge: Woody (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Location: my basement

A woody whith a dark BG and a flashightbulb as only lightsource. Cropped and levels to get the BG black. Cloned out some distracting elements and a hot pixel. I like the grainy feeling even though the red tone is not that sad but woody feels somewhat sad anyhow.

Why so sad?
Anyway, nice atmospheric lighting, but the black spots on the wall detract from the image. It also looks like you've done a bit of cloning between the legs.

Almost works really well. I think I would have liked to see a cone of light coming down, as in the effect a streetlight would have. Also keeping the woodie in crisper focus with a strong contrast of light and dark would have held the mood rather well.

I like the composition on this but I keep wanting just a smidge more room on the right. Great mood.

Nice pose conveying sadness. The image appears too dark, even intentionally low-key images should have some highlights on the subject, so brighter would be better.

I think the piture would have been better without the light showing.

Potentially great composition...just would have liked to see more highlight on Woody: maybe a masking of the light bulb to allow more light to fall on Woody, without the light itself becoming a distraction?

The Woody shots that are most effective are the ones that evoke emotion from lifelessness. And you have done this. Great. 9
