This was easily a top ten IMO of the competition. My only guess as to maybe why it did not do as well is that there were a number of entries of children with hands over their faces. But, yours beat the rest of them hands down and was definitely one of the best images in the group.
Great shot. I really cannot add much more than the comments that have already been made regarding great contrast and depth of field. B/W was the right choice too. |

| The choice of B&W was ideally suited to this shot. It emphasizes the texture of hair and hands and accentuates the strong sense of focus on the subject. It's a lovely composition, with a strong and appealing narrative sense. |

| I like the contrast on this. Good use of Neg. space too. Not the WOW factor some others have, but a good image. If I were to critique, I'd say do a selective color adjustment and up the black, or just do that in the shadow area of levels. Just a smidge. |
