I had two entirely different entry ideas. The other was more creative, but the execution wasn't as good. This one is a more simple shot, but turned out much better. It is lit in my dark basement with a 4 watt nightlight. Almost no post processing. I tweeked the color a little in RAW adjustment, but that's it other than resize to submit. I did clone out a small lens flare issue in the upper right.

Hi - I like your original entry. It's a good, soft focus shot with decent shadow and reflection. Both takes are a little on the dark side. Neither photo shows enough light to make it any more dramatic than what it is. On the other hand, they both have a peacefulness about them. I had some issues with my entry too - I decided it might be a good time to let go of the ducky's - a new challenge is at the train station up head!

I went back and looked at my settings and somehow I had darkened it by .5 stops in the raw editor. I don't know why I did that, and based on the comments that contributed to the low score. Because I had everything set up for something entirely different, the focus issues and the darkness were due to the 4 watt light and long exposure time. I deleted some of the original idea shots, which led me to this:

Which I should have submitted but chickened out on.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm surprised this didn't do better in the challenge. It was one of my favourites.

As usual, though, DPCers, generally speaking, seem to want things brightly lit, and in extra-crisp focus.

Oh well. Keep up the good work.

Too dark. Needs more lighting to show more details.

The image is just too dark and I don't really associate the title to the image as far as making a fashion statement.

You've got a great closeup here and a good dark background, the subject just needs better lighting.

cute even with the moody lighting it still seems a tiny but too dark on the light side. 7

Nice angle, just under-exposed, even for low-key, but probably could be rescued with level adjustments. Also consider less-central composition.

the focus is a tad bit lacking.
But i like the subtle reflection in the floor.

I would say it needs a few highlights...

A little too dark for my taste...unless you were giving it ambiance?
