Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Morning (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM
Location: University of Kent
Date: Oct 10, 2006
Aperture: F/14
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1"
Galleries: Abstract
Date Uploaded: Oct 14, 2006

I was quite surprised when this shot turned out exactly the way I had envisioned it. I believe that one of the things which give the image its painterly aspect is the high amount of noise - the image was shot as ISO1600. The orange-green contrast was quite unexpected, the red surface is black pavement.
In retrospect I might have cloned some structure into the blown-out bit in the umbrella.

Very nice. Feels like a blend of Van Gogh and Ernst Haas.

so in coming back to this one i like it much more than i did when i voted on it. my vote was higher than you avg but i think it may have been to low. the image and overall conept is very good and well done. as i said in my original comment the image doesn't say morning which i think acounts for some low votes. If this was in the free study i could see it getting a 7+ easy. congrats on a great image.

Fantastic image and a criminally low score :-( Look how many 10's and 9's you got for an image that didn't even break 6...

This was my top choice for the challenge. Evocative - I can feel the rain and air. You have communicated the whole atmosphere of this morning in your photo. Simple beautiful composition and colors. Well done! The only 10 I gave in the challenge.

As usual, these don't do well on DPC, but it's really great. I'm glad that you were strong enough to enter this. I've pretty much stopped entering motion blur on DPC!

Oh, I really like this one. The colors are great and it does look like a painting.

This was one of two 10s I gave in this composition. Way to be a photographer.

I just come here to see what happened to this beautiful image. By the vote pattern I can see a lot of people, around here, which doesn't understand the meaning of Art Photography. Congratulations for this wonderful shot.

I know that this is probably getting beaten to death in the scoring (and I really hope that I am wrong), but I just love these types of shots. The color and movement are superb. And you had the guts to enter a decidedly "Non-DPC" image. Good for you. The only gripe I would have is the pinkish stripe at the bottom right. Being advanced editing, that would have been easy to get rid of, as to me, it just doesn't seem to belong with the yellow & orange.

This is lovely and very creative. Looks like a painting. Everything is running together and out of focus...just like the morning! Back to bump you up to 8. Well done.

I really like this shot. Very creative. I had to take off a little because, for me, it just does not totaly give me the sense of "morning"

Very abstract and nice colors. A good refreshing entry to all of the sunrises and coffee cups that everyone is submitting.

I love this shot! It's by far my favorite for the challenge so far. I like the painterly feel of it, and the soothing colors and tones. Many on DPC might not like it, but know that it's a real masterpiece, written by someone who has won many awards and judged photos at many events. Super work. 10

Simple is sometimes better. Four simple colors and the blurred combine to create an eye catching effect. I love it.

An excellent motion image - strong feelings, accurate. You'll obviously suffer from the pedants, let alone the pin-sharpists, but your tonality certainly speaks of morning to me. Strong work.

God, this is so very wonderful. I can't adequately express how utterly taken I am with your image. My favourite from this challenge and very likely, my favourite of all I've seen on DPC.

I love photographic art that leaves me speechless. I find it most difficult to express my feelings on images like this one. Lots of great photographs I encounter allow me to write volumes. This proverbial cat has my tongue though.

I love impressionism and surrealism in photography. This feels like a painting in which I could easily get lost. Under my normal MO, I would prefer this in black and white, but the color in this image creates some additional tension that elevates the sense of urgency in the image.

This is the first challenge I have voted on in a long time and I'm glad I did. I cleaned out my favorites list a long time ago also, but I have decided to re-populate it, with this being my first selection.

Excellent work. I love it :)

My favorite in the challenge. Love the impressionistic look and feel. This kind of effort doesn't usually do that well here at DPC. I hope it is different this time. ood luck! 8

interesting. it has a very abstract painting feel to it. it doesn't say morning to me withou the title but and extra point for artistry.

I just love this.
So abstract, so artsy.
I bet you have a lot of comments like: this doesn't have to be in the morning, only the title refers to morning, blabla, but who cares?

I love this. bumping to 10 and added to faves :D
