The colors in the windows are due to a circular polarized filter towards the multi layered windscreens. Without the filter (and with the naked eye) these colors are not visible.

Unfortunately, this same windscreen creates some color aberation and bad focus that not even L lenses can do anything about.

Thank you for the comments ... I should point out that it is not with a self timer or remote, but with a collegue induced shutter release ... I just love my new camera and both the 50mm as well as this one, then 10-22mm.

It's like the pleochroic effect minerals display under a geologist's poalarized microscope. As you say, unavoidable. You can sometimes see it displayed on cheap aquariums too - as caused by the glass bending slightly. BTW, interesting portrait.
