 Taken from the second floor balcony of the Royal Cafe on a rainy, humid summer mid-morning in the French Quarter of New Orleans. This is one of those magic shots I don't remember taking in the rush of shooting I did during the vacation but am blown away by.

edit: With the advent of Hurricane Katrina I have found my New Orleans shots to take on an even deeper meaning and joy for me. From what I've heard much of the area I did photograph was not seriously damaged, if at all.. but the spirit of all of New Orleans was wounded. I look forward to seeing it rebuilt and recapturing its essence once it has healed again.

Please note, this is a film camera shot - not digital.

Man, in light of the recent events, this picture is especially precious. I haven't been to the Big Easy in many years, but the timelessness of it will remain in spirit despite many of it's missing buildings and souls. I did hear that alot of the French Quarter made it through, though. I love the mood this evokes, especially in the rain. The tinge of green is very effective. Great detailing! Sometimes I think about my old 35mm camera!

Beautiful shot, shame about the tree on far right and the moden car. Apart from that the composition is spot on.

Moody. The mixture of old and new works well. I've never had the experience of getting a stunning surprise photo from a roll of film. That's why I changed to digital. lol.
