I took a rose and left it over night in a vase that had water and red food coloring (egg dye) in it.

I remember doing this as a child with celery then slicing the stalk at various angles to see the veins. I thought I would spruce up the intrest by using a rose and observing the effect upon the petals.

The background is just canvas board that I had painted over with varying intensities of green paint.
