Great photo of a super cool looking dog. I like everything about this shot. I strongly disagree with agenkin's comment. After all, why does one take pictures anyway.

The dog is cute, and, technically, this is a good image. However, as far as photography is concerned, this is just another dog picture, a good candidate for a family album, but boring for me to see. I don't see any indication of wind here, nor do I see that it is "sniffing at the wind" - the dog is just looking at something for all I know. |

I actually kinda like the shallow DOF here. I would like to see the dog's left eye a bit more (right side of image). Overall I like the image. What would make me vote it down is that it just doesn't say "wind" to me at all. I read your post that this was the windiest day of the year, but to someone just looking at the image, not knowing that it was windy that day, I'd never guess there was any wind at all. |

I like the colours and the composition though would have liked more light, especially on the left eye. The right eye is nicely lit and has the highlight. The left eye appears as a black dot.
Also, more separation between the dog and the background I think would help with the WOW factor. The OOF parts of the dog blend a bit too much with the background. More DOF might have helped with this. |

A beautiful animal and indeed a pose anyone who's owned a dog will recognize. Nice light, great focus, and perfectly processed to keep the fur soft yet defined. |

I've seen my dogs put their nose to the wind like this. I love this shot. It's perfect IMHO!! |

I really like this photo; good focus, just enough blur where the hair is blowing, good bokeh. |

First thought was aaawwwww. :D I had a Shelty years ago. Lots and lots of brushing required. He-he. Looks like you're doing a fine job of keeping him/her groomed and it pays off here. I hope this gets the attention it deserves as you've illustrated wind at work (in two ways) in a wonderful image. Nice use of DOF to eliminate bg distractions. Well focused yet you held back on sharpening (it's just right) and didn't lose the softness of the fur. Nicely done! Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

great use of a slow exposure to get the movement (not that movement and Aussies are tough to capture together :) -- one of my favorites this challenge |

Nice bokeh in this one. One of the first with blurred outlines that enhance the image and show it as wind rather than camera (photographer) blur.
Score: 9. |

Awesome DOF. Love that single focused eye. My only critique is maybe to adjust contrast a smidge to intensify the diff. levels of tonality. |
