Challenge: Portrait in Landscape Orientation (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1
Location: My room, Mount Cook, Wellington
Date: Oct 29, 2006
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/13
Galleries: Emotive, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Oct 29, 2006

This is meant to simulate sitting about a camp-fire. Left my cameras white balance set to that which i used in sunlight causing this artificially lit scene to look overly warm, and had my model Marty huddled over in various position in my well heated room. Using my trusty study lamp I played with various shadows. The shot is framed with marty in the right as this sits pleasingly. Contrast has been exaggerated to create the pitch black of the out doors.

I love the crop, the composition, and the warm colors! I immediately thought it looked almost like the person was sitting next to a fire. Good shot.

Lighting is a little harsh too bright, focus is nice, and the layout is good for a landscape portrait.

Title fits the photo well...maybe just a tad too bright in the face? Good luck to ya!

I like the contrast, lighting and pose. However, I am not sure what the Landscape format gives you but dead space...
