Interestingly goo. I like the colors.

Would a vertical crop be better? Does all the negative space on the right and left contribute anything to the composition?

Wonderful idea on this challenge! The colors and negative space work very well on this shot. But something is just off to me and I'm trying to decide if it's the expression on the child's face or the imbalance because of only one had being seen. I'll have to think about this and try to get back to you on that. I'm starting with a 7 but I will be back.

The model seems almost reluctant to grasp what's in the slit of light. Very Pink Floydish (or is that Supertramp?) Nice job

Great shot. I'm sure it took some time to get the exposure and colour worked out but it's worth it. I'm guessing slight movement on the head (-2pts) but your kid must have been gettgin tired of you by then (+1 pt for her).
Keep up the good work.

It's hard to understand what the child is holding.

Cool idea and colors. Focus is just a bit soft. 100% for the challenge.

Very creative use of lighting here... I would probably like this composition more if it was cropped in tighter to remove the emptiness on both sides of your subject. That empty space doesn't seem to be supporting the subject in any way that I can determine.

Strange ratio of negative space to subject here. Also a strange crop. I think I'd have liked to see more space above the head, and less below the hand. Perhaps in portrait orientation as well. Shame, as this is a very strong shot otherwise. Great idea, and great colours. 7
Edit: Only one helpful comment? That seems to be insulting on all the other people who bothered to comment on your picture.

Good points:colours are great, expression fitting
Bad points: too much black eitherside, a portrait image shot in landscape sizes?
Score:7
