Challenge: Landscape in Portrait Orientation (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: Concord Ca
Date: Oct 28, 2006
Galleries: Landscape
Date Uploaded: Oct 30, 2006

My first entry with my D200, just wanted an update button and I thought the tree looked like it was reeling back from the impending construction. I think this meets the challenge well of "seeing the landscape differently" but I still don't expect a good score.

Interesting landscape. I especially like the form of the tree.

I like the idea - the line to the the tree and the hill on the right. The shadow seems a little too dark, and somewhat detracts from the picture. I don't know if you wanted a harsh contrasty look - the highlights on the hay - on the right are distracting. Perhaps reducing the contrast might help?

This is really pushing the envelope for portrait orientation. It is a striking image, though.

Great lines and shadows. It feels just a little bit off balance because there isn't much on the right side of the frame to counter the tree, but the hills do help with that a little. Still a wonderful shot, though.
