I like the background color you chose for this shot - it offsets the steel color very nicely. It seems your depth of field might be a bit shallow - most of the subject is out of focus - although that may have been intentional?

Good solid image.

very nice composition and lighting on this shot. I feel that the depth of field in this shot is 'mislocated'. None of the gear teeth are fully sharp and they are the subject of this image.

A good macro, effective lighting and colour. I like the composition. One of my favourites. 9
Edit: Seems like the comments marked as helpful are very arbitrary. Two comments below are almost identical, but only one is marked as helpful. Very odd.

Yes it is true you don't get to see this part of the machinery very often and the macro shot on this is wonderful the clarity in the front fading to the out of focus in the background. The colors could be slightly brighter, the green is a bit dull for me and I would really have liked this better seeing it inside an actual peice of machinery, it would have packed a bigger impact for me. I'm starting this one at a 7 but I will be back.

Would be nicer if more of the gear was in focus

just personal prefrence, I would've preferred to see the closest tooth in focus, and the rest blur out.

Good Points: ok dof, bit too narrow.
Bad Points: the geen bg doesn't bode well. quite insipid subject
Score:3
