 I think this might be a little too expressive for the challenge, but whatever. I bought a flower and hung it for about three days, then put the pills around it on my desk and used a normal desklamp.

In photoshop, I changed the levels to add some contrast and then desaturated it by 50%. I think this is one of my more powerful shots of that shoot, because this overhead view is a little colder and the shadow of the flower makes the left side symbolically black.

This is a great composition, let down only by some slightly too subdued lighting and soft focus. The border (which I'm sure will get some comments) does not really assist the image in any way, but rather creates an ominous and weighty atmosphere.
