The Hollow Men, by T. S. Eliot

section V

Here we go round the prickly pear
Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear
At five o'clock in the morning.

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion
And the response
Falls the Shadow

Life is very long

Between the desire
And the spasm
Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom

For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I absoulutely LOVE those colors, inside and out! I have never seen such rich and beautiful contrasts and hues.

This is delicious eye candy. :)

and the shadow gives it so much character... A fav' for sure.

I was amused by people not liking the shadow. I mean, maybe they're right and I didn't do a good job of integrating the shadow into the composition, but without the shadow this would be so bo-o-o-ooring.

Dramatic sky, beautiful colors. Excellent post processing. I can't understand why this didn't score higher. I see that people didn't like the shadow, but I think it adds intrigue and interest. Who or what is it? Why are they there?

Wonderful colors and great dramatic light. I do find the shadow distracting though.

I think the shadow takes away from the image.

This is an interesting idea, but it looks a little to heavy-handed to me. The sky seems unnatrual and the shadow is more distracting than pleasing.

great color on the trees, but I'd like it better without the shadow.

The shadow doesn't work for me. I find it distracting from the beautiful hilside. This scene would probably have been better in a landscape orientation.

hmm - i love the color in this image - but the shadow (although I understand why it is there) really distracts me.

Love the light, don't care for the shadow myself.
