 Editing was not complicated but not straightforward, either. There is a gradient fill layer, a "soft light" blended layer from a monochrome copy of the layer driven to high contrast with levels, and at least two different saturation layers at varying opacities.

Probably all in vain, but I like the result :) I hope you guys do, too.

I think of only natural elements in a portrait. If it is a landscape portrait then "sport" only landscape person portrait = main emphasis on the person
