It's a good idea for a shot but the illusion seems lost in this shot. Perhaps having several needles floating and taking the shot from an angle would have better displayed the phenonomen. |

There is too much going on at at the bottom of the glass for this to be real effective. If the glass did not have the diamonds at the bottom it would have been better. |

I can picture this working best with a clear bowl with no patterns and a white surface underneath OR a plain white bowl. The darkness of the bowl in this picture doesn't allow the needle to be in focus like it should be. 4 |

Which end is pointing North? (; Neat idea. A bit on the dark side. |

Interesting idea but the background is a bit disruptive. Maybe a glass with a smooth bottom. |

Was this difficult for you? You did it well! I tried and failed so I didn't submit mine. Nice job. I think more dof would refine this as well as a bit stronger light so you can make out more detail on the needle's eye. |

Don't choose a front take, show the reflections on the water choosing a lower angle to actually enhance the feeling of floating. The background is horrible. |

Excellent idea for a science shot - the bottom of the glass is a bit distracting from the subject. |

could have been much better with more light on the needle and a dark background (would give the water a mirror effect too) a 5 |
