On-camera flash. If you look back and compare this to the others, it just doesn't stand up. If you decide to continue with doing portraits, you'll want to look into getting some flash units. But the framing here is nice and if the light were less-harsh, the colors would all go well together. |

In this case, too much fill flash was used. You want to balance the fill flash so that it doesn't look like flash is your main source of light. It would also be helpful to move the flash off camera. When the flash is right on the camera it tends to "flatten the facial features" because there are no shadows to give the face a 3-dimensional quality.
I do like that this time the top of the mountain doesn't cut across her head. |
