I thought about doing what you did here, but I thought that was *cheating*.
In either case, you took a great shot. Have you ever tried to make sushi at home? It is exceptionally easy and looks just as divine. I've done it...you just have to find a Japanese grocer that sells the freshest fish. That's the catch... |

I would've given you a "10" for this one. Beautiful colors. The shiny plate helps to frame the sushi very well and the placing of the chopsticks. Excellent. |

I like the angle and composition, but there seems to be an overtone of green in the photo. |

Love the subject, lighting and colors. I would have liked to see the rolls sliced on the diagonal. |

Excellent shot. Nice even light. Good crop and even though I would bypass this it does look good. |

The reflections on the plate create a lovely frame for the well photographed California roll. |

Makes me want some sushi. The sushi is very attractive. I have 2 suggestions that I think would improve this shot: 1- The window light is quite pleasing, but it needs some fill the ginger, wasabe and the front edge of the sushi seem kind of dark. 2 - A different plate with more of a Japanese style would help, or even a plain one. For me, the flowers peeking out from under the sushi distract my eye from the beauty of the dish itself. |

Nice presentation! Good color contrasts. The food looks well put together, and more importantly it looks like it would be good to eat. Only complaint on that end I have is the orange stuff on top (carrots?), it brings a great color contrast but has focus issues for me. The lighting makes the rolls look nice and crisp, but I find the plate due to the light reflection has too cool of a hue to it, competing with the food's coloring. Perhaps a solid colored plate in light blue or purple might have offset the food better. Very sound photo. 7 |

One of my absolutely favourite dishes... I question the use of this patterned plate. It's a bit distracting. Very nice colour and focus. |

One of these days I'm going to have to try Sushi, just not quite brave enough yet, LOL! This is a wonderful shot, the colors, the lighting, the refelction on the place. The only thing is the flowers on the plate are not overpowering but just slightly distracting and the chop sticks, for some reason they keep trying to pull me up out of the shot. A 9 from me |

Good job capturing the colours. I'm not sure I like the ultra shiny plate. I think it detracts frm the subject. Overall nice! |

mouth watering, only thing that I can see that spoils it is the floral pattern on the plate, nice reflections and great composition though :0) |

Nicely done - good presentation and the red mat sets off the top edge too.
A bit more light thrown into the 'near' side with a reflector or flash could have helped out the ginger and lightened the shadows there ? |

This looks good ( I go crazy with wasabi) Would have been more spectacular on a darker dish, possibly. |

I don't care too much for the ginger or the cucumbers, but adding the masago is a great idea for california rolls. You also don't have enough wasabi. Did you roll these yourself? I love making sushi. The last time I did it though, we were making some for my mother-in-law and I about burned her house down cause I let the hot oil burn dry when we were making tempura. Photowise the picture is pretty good, I think that you should have cropped out the bottom of the plate a little more, but I love sushi so that overtakes the score in my book. |
