I kind of agree about the resolution of my original, and of this version - especially with what you had to work with here. I do think you've maybe missed the point of my shot - which isn't absolutely about the glow of the sunlight across the grass of St James park on a bright autumn afternoon perhaps, but about the relative impacts of the selective highlights in the trees and their shadows in the grass. This, there's a loss of detail here that doesn't, to my mind, suit the image. I wanted something that resolves almost to a pattern of very small squares, which, viewed at first is obviously a 'scene' that we might indulge ourselves with, but which, after a few moments continued viewing, becomes too confusing and simply then refuses to be that simple image anymore.
However, when presented at such a very small size - on this high-res monitor - it's a bit tricky getting the impact of that right. So it's completely - if a little oddly - possible that your version does that better than my own.
Plus, of course, my intention in the shooting and processing of the image is completely incidental, and what's actually interesting is what you think about it, feel about it, and how you react to it. But of course, I can only tell you about my own ideas - at least until almost this distance in time, when one gains a little detachment from the work.
Interesting to see though, Sher - and nice that you felt the image was worthy of that time of yours to re-work. |
