I loved the way the roots seemed to be creeping through the Autumn leaves here :o) I had been looking for a shot like this to go with the following poem...

Two Young Saplings

Two young saplings were planted together
They were young and tender and exposed to the weather.
The place they were planted was windy and chill
The way from then onwards was mostly uphill.

They were blown too and fro in many a gale
One struggling to stand the other hearty and hale
Staying together for all of their life
Supporting each other like husband and wife.

Then gradually the strong one lost his fine figure
His partner then mustered up all of her vigour
To hold his frail form, and support his weak frame
While waiting for summer, but it was winter that came.

Then on that sad day when he died away
Parting them both it was then to be found
That most of their growing was alone under ground
Twining their roots each other around
Living so close their roots had grown round each other
Like husband and wife, each with their lover.

The one that was left was near desperation
Finding it hard to endure seperation
Never before had she stood alone
Having to carry on living her life on her own.

She could shiver for ever and wither away
But that would not please him that wasn't his way
So slowly and gently at her own pace
She stretched out her roots in her very own space
Though her branches are bare, her life seems so hollow
Here's trusting the Lord for some green leaves tomorrow.

This one actually reinforces life to me - the strength and persistence of the roots, the cycle of renewal represented by the leaves. Warm, vibrant colors, too!

great shot, love it, the roots are wonderful...all that's missing are the fairies.

This could be used as a story book cover. I really like the lines you captured and the leaves give it great color. Nice job.

Lovely clarity and color, and yes, the way the roots are creeping through is what makes the picture interesting. Good perspective as well!

this is really great, the twisty green contrasts very nicely with the leaves, you might want to try sharpening a bit but thats a personal taste.

I love this! Great colour saturation and the roots look almost glossy. Just beautiful...

Wonderful golours and composition. The tree canopy in Padley Gorge can be a bit heavy, but for autmn colours and saturation its absolutely perfect. You have made good use of the conditions here.
