Challenge: Black & White III (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 12-24mm f/4.0G IF-ED
Location: Gardabaer, Iceland
Date: Nov 12, 2006
Aperture: 6,3
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/250
Galleries: Black and White, Children
Date Uploaded: Nov 12, 2006

The first snow in Iceland and the kids go crazy! The photo is made monochrome in channel mixer, curves and levels tweaked a little and then variations are used, augmenting the magenta in the shadows and yellows in the highlights. Sharpened with Unsharp mask, then contrast increased slightly.

I'd say this is under rated. Nice capture. Maybe the highlights could be a bit brighter/whiter?

I have no idea why I sent it like this - serves me right :) It's way too yellow - next time I will do better!

Good capture; a little bright but I know snow shots are hard to get.

I would take down the yellow color

If the picture had a bit more pop (seems a little flat and I normally don't say that) I would give it a perfect score. Maybe also a bit sharp aroudnt he edges, the left sleeve seems unnatural agaisnt the background. Still one of my favorites.

Seems just to blurry and if that is snow it would be nice to see more whites and highlights for contrast. The idea was nice but it falls a bit short for the reasons I have mentioned in my opinion. I wish the face was more defined to see her expression she was probably having fun and it would be more impactful to convey that.
