You got a lot of good scores on this photo. I think the sadness for the injured ladybug caused some voters to rate the photo lower than it deserved. It met the challenge well with, as you said, spots on the bug and the bug itself being a red spot on the flower.
This was almost a great photo. If you follow the rule of thirds when cropping, it would help a lot. If you still have the original photo, imagine the image is divided in thirds vertically and horizontally (like a tic tac toe frame). Crop the photo so that the ladybug is on the intersection point of two of the dividing lines. I think the lower left "power point" would be a good spot for the bug. |

Try enhancing the contrast. This is pretty washed out. |

Your photo evokes sadness in me for the ladybug. The poor thing. |

Looks to be beyond "wounded" to me. :D Nothing personal, but it's a little close to being kind of disgusting. I know it's only a bug, but still... As for the technicals, I think the composition is a little too tight, and the lighting is a bit harsh on the left. Color saturation is ok, getting some yellow bleed over onto the bugs shell casing. All of the above is JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |
