 This is just a piece of driftwood lying on a black coat.

Painted with light to achieve draw attention to the features I wanted to show. For those that are unfamiliar with the technique - Painting with light is a long exposure taken in a dark area and using a light source (flashlight, torch, flashbulb) to expose the subject in a desired way.

The title hints to the way in which lighting can transform everyday objects into things of mystery and suspense.

I'm not the biggest fan of low-key/ darker images so take my comments with a pinch of salt... although that applies to all my comments anyway...
I like the composition, the diagonal of the wood across the frame is interesting. The background black is rich, clean and really highlights the lighting on the wood itself. I like the textures of the wood but am straining to really see them in detail.

Wow, I love this image. I think the lighting on here is perfect, just enough shadow to add mystery. Fills the space in a nice way, not too overbearing. It may be ordinary driftwood but it really caught my attention and interest quickly. I also like the fact that there isn't a distracting border pulling my eyes away. Very simple but dramatic piece. 10

Nice idea.
I think color would have had more impact by being able to see the grain better in the wood.
