i'd call your pic spartan, in a peloponesian butt kicking way....but that would be too much of a pun =`) So I'll just say that I love the composition and the (what appears to be) intentional high iso setting to create a pleasant noise to the pic. Nice work. BTW if you meant hoplite in an athenean way - I meant no disrespect by assuming you meant a spartan hoplite. |

I'm not quite sure what this is but I like the image. It reminds me a lot of the work of someone whose name is escaping me right now (it's really driving me crazy). He does/ did images of his own temporary works of art out in a nature landscape setting - such as an egg shape made of stones in the middle of a river. Anyway I can't remember the name and it's driving me nuts. But this kind of reminds me of that. Great composition and I love the grainy gritty texture and the high contrast also.
NOTE: A friend helped jog my memory. It's Andy Goldsworthy I was thinking of. |

hmm, a unique interpretation of the challenge and ancient Greek warriors.
What is your intention with regards to the mood your setting? |

Interesting rock shot. Looks abstract. Nice shades of black to gray. Looks a little grainy. 6. |

I'll be honest and say I'm not following the title, Hoplites were a type of warrior yes? Regardless, I find this a nice powerful photo. The simple lines are great, as is the use of b&w and the organic feel to it. Nice use of space and the lighting really adds a nice drama to it, imo. 9 |
