 I immediately thought of Barbie when I saw this challenge. Not that I resemble her, but I always thought it was funny that she and I shared a birth year. Never mind the DPC dislike of Barbies; this was for fun.

I thought of getting a (cheap) vintage Barbie but didn't. Today, deadline looms, I'm mostly running errands and happen to call a friend with metastatic breast cancer. She's not doing well. I am saddened, frustrated, mad ... I need to do something to take my mind off the news for awhile. What do I find at the store? Breast Cancer Barbie. The irony of this and the timing made me think I *had* to bring her home and photograph her!

I used a shallow DOF and focussed on her bosom from the ribbon side to emphasize why I chose this subject. Struggling with the title a bit, but the pic says what I wanted. I will send my friend a copy and hope it makes her smile.

I'm conflicted. While I like the angle, and think the subject was well chosen, I find myself distracted by the DOF.

I can see a well used lens baby here, I like the colors but the composition suffers of a too oblique perspective for me... maybe you could just turn the face of the doll facing the camera...
