 These critters get in the house all the time. I figured this might be a good challenge to shoot them given their light color.

Setup:

Placed scorpion on a white flexible poster board clapped to an easel. Lit with two light sources, a worklight set front/left and a lightbox on the right. Shot with a small aperture since my macro lens has such a narrow DOF in general. Unfortunately this made all my sensor dust come "alive". While it wasn't difficult to clean it up I do need to clean my sensor again.

Post Processing:

- Cloned/healed sensor dust
- Neatimage
- Curves to brighten
- Tone mapping to brighten some more
- Dodge/Burn used to make subject "pop"
- PS Noise Reduce Filter set to Lighten blending
- Blur/Clone out minor blemishes
- Gradient Map and Channel Mixer used to tweak tonal range.
- Hue/Saturation used to boost saturation
- Cropped just a tad.
- Resized using bicubic sharper as the resampling method.
- Smart Sharpen applied over entire image with "highlights" turned off
- Sharpen Tool used selectively
- Added border
- Save for web
