 Trying to get the most dynamic range while shooting a very shiny object... usually i'd go for a low-key treatment so this is really a challenge to myself, to see if i can manage high key shiny.

The background is shiny too - a piece of blank projector acetate, with the pearlescent tissue backing still attached, overlaid on a white piece of printer paper. Lighting was a single table lamp, white balance adjusted accordingly, and shadows filled in a bit with lightpainting from handheld torch.

Shot with 100-400L IS at 150mm, on a tripod with 36mm extension tube and remote release.

Editing: so much sensor dust!
That's everything i cloned out from this. Aside from that, converted to duotone, resize and sharpen.

Like the tones and composition in this image very, very much. It is very well done and has a nice perspective on the watch. Unfortunately the background is not a pure white as specified in the challenge statement and some voters will fault you for it.

I like this very much. I do wish however that the background was a true white instead of grey. The shadow adds a nice element to the composition. Lighting may be a little hot - very hard to illuminate shiny surfaces. Perhaps a diffuser? Anyway, overall a job well done. Good luck in the challenge.
