The subtle colours are nice. The title fits this photo perfectly and I like how just one of the plants is poking up. The gray dead space works well, but IMO it would look better in a tradition 1:1.5 or 1:1.25 ratio. I like the DOF as it puts all the background out of focus, but the out of focus part of the green in the bottom right is distracting.

the foreground appears overexposed (ferns to the lower right) and there is too much gray in the background for my taste |
