The subtle colours are nice. The title fits this photo perfectly and I like how just one of the plants is poking up. The gray dead space works well, but IMO it would look better in a tradition 1:1.5 or 1:1.25 ratio. I like the DOF as it puts all the background out of focus, but the out of focus part of the green in the bottom right is distracting.

| the foreground appears overexposed (ferns to the lower right) and there is too much gray in the background for my taste |
