Great Crested Grebe.
In the year I had my 602 I never managed to get a decent shot of one of these - they don't come anywhere near the bank, and spend a lot of their time underwater.
Unlike the Mallard which is almost always seen in pairs the Grebe is a solo swimmer.

Nice focus.

Nice image! Use of natural light is great, color is fantastic. I love the composition - the use of space really enhances the alone aspect of the photo. Would prefer the whole image to be in focus, just as a personal preference. Also the bright white border draws my eyes out of the photo. Other than that, I think its a great image. 7

I wish the bird was in better focus...

The first thing I notice is that most everything is blurry, including the subject. Using DOF to defocus the foreground and background helps make the subject stand out, but only if the subject itself is in focus. This would have been a nice photo if that was the case.

Nice nice, bery nice. I like your DOF that you used personally.

Nice use of DoF, though I think the duck could probably be little more in the middle to really make this perfect. Nice shot.

good composition - it's different than most water fowl shots that I see, which is a good thing. Nice work.

nice reflection. ordinarily, I'd say too much foreground, but it works for this contest, enhancing the feeling of isolation

Nice warm light and a good simple image. The composition works well.

The depth of field is off with the blurring in the foreground. I don't think it adds to the photo, then again, I have been wrong before. On the brighter side, good use of the rule of thirds and good sharp focus on the bird.

An attractive image & meets the challenge - I particularly like how you've placed the duck in the frame

Who is diving? If somebody is diving, then the bird is not alone ;)
I would like to see the bird in foreground and more clearly. Too much hazy water. (3)
