 Wild Atlantic Grey Seal Colony off the coast of Lincolnshire in the North Sea. Getting out to these guys is a 40 minute trek across sand and mud flats to a sandbank. The sandflsts are an RAF bombing range in the week, but weekends its open to the public as a Nature Reserve. To get these shots it then means laying flat on the sand/mud with a long lens, creaping slowly closer and closer.

I got to within 20feet of this Cow and Pup, the huge Bull was just 20ft away to the left. He was a big beachmaster and wasn't too happy about me being there. I stayed for about 10 mins and then decided to move off

The 70-80mph winds were whipping up the sand and spray. I had the camera and lens tightly wrapped up in plastic bags so no sand could enter the mechanism. I also wore 4 layers of clothing to keep out elements.

I love this photo so much! It looks like the work of another dpc member who is a research scientist studying seals in Antarctica! Truly amazing!

Ohmy! Steen is this you ??? This certainly looks like one of the ones of yours I have to have :) What a perfect photo. Technically flawless, and it has an off-the-chart cute/wow/heart factor! Excellent photo for this challenge. A ribbon winner I hope! 10

That's a good shot. Nice colours. Would have been really nice to see the cubs eyes as they are so beautiful. It's hard to get animals to co-operate sometimes!

Lovely light, great angle and well filled frame. I wish I could see a touch more of the pup's face though, rather than it being hidden by the whiskers
