Damn dude, you might as well pull the trigger...you got robbed! Those technical mumbo-jumbo touchy feely comments...garbage. Can't they see the photo is named 'Despair' and the 'subject' is sweatin' bullets! The necklace is perfect - it's not a fashion shoot for goodness sakes...it's freakin' suicide! Awesome job and agree with your comment about taking the photo... |

Technicals: lighting is decent, conversion isn't bad, contrast is ok. All those are probably a bit above average.
Feel: Tough challenge. This is going to get some reactions and people may vote low due to those reactions. I feel like it lacks a bit of context. Sure the guy is getting ready to kill himself, but I don't have any sense at all as to why. That's the trick to a superior picture.

I took a bit of studying, but I finally realized that the subject has the barral of a gun in his mouth. It was slightly difficult to tell at first, but given the title and challenge, it became apparent. But the lighting is quite nice and the black background sets the mood well. It's still a bit hard for me, as a viewer, to connect with the subject and really feel what the subject feels though. Seems more emotion/angst in the subject's face would really drive the point home. But it's definitely a well done image! 8o) |

I'm not sure I get this image. I like the idea though.
there are some minor tech. issues here. the ratio between your highlight and your shadow is high, so I'm afraid your losing detail in your blacks and your whites (especially on his head). the focus feels soft also. The necklace needs turned and if you tried to go for a sepia tone it's a little off and if this is not sepia toned then your color is off.
aside from that, the image is still puzzling to me. I'm not sure what he is doing. |
