Apparently the Bond martini and his preference for shaken, not stirred, was first introduced in print in Casino Royale. So I read on a Bond site on the web. I thought about this more than I shot it. I tried filling the glass with water than dropping a nickel in it to splash and saw that it was not going to work. I went about it a different way. I set the martini glass, and I am sorry it it not a classic plain glass but it is the only one I have, on a box covered with a piece of black velvet in front of a black velvet background. I put a pin throught the back of a lemon twist and used some black thread to hang it over the glass. Camera on tripod and used the manual remote. I reached under the velvet and shook the glass while taking several shots at 1.5 seconds each. Almost how I envisioned it.

Post: Convert from raw with a -0.67 exposure compensation. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Layer of curves adjustment. Cloned out the piece of pin that showed on the twist as well as the thread. Healed a dust spot or two and cloned/healed some aberrations in the background as well as burning it particurlarly around the glass and the twist. Dodged the liquid that escaped from the glass to accentuate it. Sharpen. Resize. Sharpen.

Two concerns about this photograph. 1) Three is a bunch of scribbles and zig-zags on the black background. What are those??? 2) The twist is a bit blown-out.

I like the shake and the liquid with the long shutter speed, but is that a lot of burning and/or cloning of the background? On my low contrast LCD it looks fine - all black. But on my better monitor it really stands out and kills the image.

I think I know what you were trying, but it doesn't work, at least for me. Sorry.

I can see the cloning in the black. You need to set the entire background to black.

I like the concept of this one a whole bunch - but the lemon peal twist is a little too blown out.

the glass is intresting, but what went wrong in the back ground and why does what i hope you meant to be the moon look like a banana runt that got crushed?
