 After the challenge vote started, I reloaded my shot and did two extra editing steps. I reckon this was the better result, more light on white than the original. Never mind though eh? ;)

Aww, what a nice shot! So sad :(

Yes, the extra couple of editing steps improve it dramatically. The colours in the original still look quite vivid, and the background's quite dark, so it would've gotten a bunch of dnmc votes. On the other hand, this one doesn't have that problem, and looks a lot more delicate, which fits the subject matter well.
