I lighted her - ~12cm tall porcelain ballerina - with a small table lamp from above and with a small candle from the left side. I used a black paperboard as background and a sky-patterned paperboard under a flat glass (in order to gain a reflection and simulate the starry night sky). For some advises during the All Alone challenge, I tried not to center her with such a geometric precision. I wonder whether you like this new composition, and I hope she is graceful enough to meet the challenge. :-) I am very curious about your comments on this photo.

PhotoShop: crop, level.
NeatImage: noise reduction and sharpen.

Given your title, I would say the reflection goes against what you were trying to do.

if the surface was non-reflective it would probably look more like a starry sky if that's what you were trying to do.

theme : 1/3
lighting: 2/3
overall quality: 2/4 *I think it would be nice if the white specks continued into the background

Nice idea for the challenge. If you could have eliminated the reflection, the shot would have been more "believable".

Very nice idea and well executed. Did you try to mask the pedestal, so to show the dancer directly on the dark floor.

is that Tipp-Ex?

We chose similar subject :). I would improve lighting and sharpness. The dancer is too off-sided for my taste

I tried to find a real ballerina for this challenge and couldn't. At least you found one. I like the composition but I think I would have liked to have seen softer light used. Just my opinion.

I like the composition, although I think it would be more pleasing to the eye without the 'stars', just the reflection on the black

Nice pic, well taken technically. The lighting is spot on and I like the way you've included all that negative space in the direction the ballerina is moving (8)
