Once the residence of the mighty Duchy of Luneburg, the Ducal Palace is the oldest building of the town of Celle, Lower Saxony, with foundation walls dating from 1292.
The State chambers in the early baroque style of the 17th century are unique in northern Germany, the oldest theatre north of the Alps is still in use here, as is a complete kitchen from the 18th century and the palace chapel with its renaissance furnishings from the 16th century, entirely preserved.
