i hope you don't mind, but i had a little fiddle with this image. this is what i would do with it to bring it out a bit.

this has the makings of a very nice image. however, the harsh flash does not help here. a much tighter crop on the head and elbow would leave out the over bright part of the hand, and bring the focus to the sleeping dog.

a good start,a nd keep shoooting!

2 - Looks like good potential, however the dog is not the dominant part of this image. Perhaps a more creative approach could have given this extra - eg: losing the shirt and bringing the dog closer to the camera, etc.

This shot tells a story, but is not a portrait IMO. I would like to see the puppy's eyes.

Yes, he looks well protected.

Cute puppy for sure but it has a snapshot feel rather than a proper portrait. Good focus and detail but I dont think that will carry it far.

IMHO this isn't a portrait ... more of a snapshot ...

Awwww.....what a CUTIE!!! So precious!!! I'd have scored this really high had it been a little more centered on puppy's face. Perhaps, cropping this tightly to simply baby's face rather than a "whole body" shot of the arms and chest????

Cute puppy - but the lighting etc. make this feel and look like a snapshot not a portrait
