You know, this fits perfectly. It's a shame that you can't see the photog's notes prior to the finish of the challenge. What goes from a bad shot with people wondering what the hell you were thinking to absolute clarity of an amazing shot just from your words. I have to say that I'm one of those people who didn't vote this higher, because I was wondering what you were thinking. I have to apologize. You hit it dead on!!!! |

OK now that I have read your notes (very well written by the way!) I get what you were trying to do with this shot. The thing about photography is that the image has to stand on its own to tell the story. You put a lot of thought into your image, but it just didn't get translated through to what the voters could see. For this challenge, actually photographing money would have worked. The lyrics of the song "Money" would have made the statement you were looking for. It is a complex web we weave with the challenges and our images. As I mentioned in my previous comment, as an impressionistic image this was a good photo, it just didn't work for this specific challenge. Keep working at your art, and I know since you put so much thought into your images I will eventually see you on the front page of DPC! |

Nice explanation of the thought behind your image ... I love the creative approach you took to the subject, and your rejection of just shooting a dollar bill was a great choice. Now I get what you were trying to do. Maybe next time take your thoughts a little further in exploring the images you want to create. Keep it up. |

i liked this photo, i really did. the nice colours, the spiky shapes, the two blue lines on the top-right side...i was thinking that a more poetic title, like "wish you were here" or "shine you diamond" would fit better to this image, not something as concrete as money. now, after reading your (photographer´s) comments, i think i understand what you tried to achieve, and i must say you did quite some good job. but, to make it even better, i think you should´ve put the entire line of the lyric, not only the title.
i wish you better luck on the next challenges. |

I like abstracts, I really do. I'm also painfully aware of the low scres they get on DPC, so I really try and see the positives in them when the rare abstract shows up in a challenge. That said, I can't for the life of me tell what this has to do with Money, the song Money, greed, anything.
Sorry. Good luck. |

7 hmmmm....i don´t know, but i feel this is a good photo. it doesn´t say money to me, but it might be in a strange world. i can´t rationally justify the 7, but i feel that´s the right vote for this shot. good luck. |

Hm. Not sure I understand this shot so much. But it is a lovely abstract. Very Christmas-ey. |

What does a out of focus image of a plant have to do with money? Highlights blown, out of focus. |

I don't see the connection to money or the challenge. The quality of the image is poor and while the photographer's intent may have been to be impressionistic, the object is clearly an poinsetta plant and it just isn't working for me. Better luck in future challenges. |

Sorry, I don't get it. I cannot see what it is, and it does not look like money at all to me. It is probably unsharp, on purpose, but for what? |
