This photograph was taken mid afternoon. I liked the open field with just a barn in the top half. The reason I said Empty spaces is because there are empty spaces around the barn.

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Nice focus, but the horizon tilt really destroys any chance that the image might have had. If you only look at one thing when composing an image, make absolutely sure that you have the horizon straight.

Lighting: You did a pretty good job with harsh lighting conditions. The trees in silhouette do a nice job at setting your subject off from the background. No detail was lost with harsh shadows or blown highlights in the subject of the capture.

Composition/Content: I can easily make the relation to the title, but I think you needed a little more.

My Opinion: Meets the challenge, but I think that this one still scored pretty close to its potential. Use this one to learn what the voters like, as well as to get that horizon line level.

yes it's empty... but it doesn't really say much

I think this would have been a much stronger photograph if the house had been composed according to the rule of thirds.

A couple of minor things would help this photo tremendously IMO, and can be done with Photoshop. First, straighten horizon. Second, up the saturation a bit - it looks washed out. Finally, I'd recommend dodging the front of the building so it pops more.

to me, the building means that it's not really empty ... I think that this would have been a stronger photo if it were 'building free'

This didn't do anything for me - sorry. The ground isn't level but isn't on enough of an angle to seem like it's been done deliberately. Maybe walking around the field a bit to get a level shot and remove or hide the second building would have been better. The two specks in the top right corner are either dust specks or birds, but either way are distracting.

Tilting disturbs me, barn is cut in half and ... sorry, but there is nothing for me in this picture
