So...this took FOREVER...not that long to set up. My dad has a massive amount of books, and I just took them off the shelves.

Anyway, trying to figure out the lighting was a B****. I'm sort of new at the lighting thing....I used myself as the model and couldn't find my remote, so I had to keep getting up and changing the shooting mode back between shots...grr.....And hopefully my dad isn't mad for messing up his book shelf...hehe

oh yeah, aren't my dad's huge glasses hot? hehe...

PP:
levels, contrast, desaturate, dodge and burn on skin (though not much was done), sharpen, save for web.

I hope it goes over well, and that people consider "student" an occupation...hey, it's included on surveys and stuff! Plus my only other job is a photographer for my college paper...I'm not even at my college anymore because it's Xmas break, so my creative ideas wouldn't work.

Hello from the Critique club, my name is Jon Rowe, and i will be looking at your image this evening :)

Composition/Lighting : i really think the composition and the lighting of this are spot on. there's a great amount of contrast to hold the attention, and the eye travels quite pleasingly throughout the image, with the main focus brought on that cute face with the wore out look :D i feel your pain;) great job on the lighting composition. as a fellow college student, i could not possibly tell you how i agree with this image. only thing i was thinking was what someone else said about having more books open. this would show more frustration and stress, and could have further showed your problems. nonetheless, it's a great image, and very nice score. congrats on your new personal best :D

Challenge : it definitely fits the challenge quite well. being a college student is definitely full time, and this really shows the aggrevation you go through.

Conclusion : i love everything about this image. great lighting, great execution. everything is wonderful. congratulations on a job well done :D

Keep on shootin!

Good luck on your future challenges:)

Works well as a monochrome shot, especially with the lighting.

Clever use of the books. The overall tone is a bit flat though. Maybe try bump up the contrast a bit, or boost some of the lighting.

Awesome facial expression on the model. Good angle. Probably would have put the model off center though, might have given it more power.

You couldn't be that overwhelmed, you only have one book open. I think this could have been more dramatic if there where stacks of books open aswellas the ones you have there. Maybe some coffee and a little more frazzled hair and some really crazy bugged red eyes, L()L... yeah, Im in college also 6-;.

This is PERFECT! I'm an executive assistant and I thought of something like this for my occupation too -- but you pulled it off so perfectly, I'm glad I didn't have time to even try :) Fantastic job! 10
