Beautiful Capture. I would definately display this in my home. I feel the loss and the angle that you have causes you to prop your head to the left... enough to touch your heart. Beautiful work. 9 |

Greetings from the Critique Club:
While there is infinite suffering in the memories of the families and friends of those lost on September 11th this image doesn't do justice to that emotion or to your skills with a camera. The angle from which you shot the image is awkward, there is too much glare, too many light bounces, and general distraction. I think you may have included some of those to give a cosmic sense (as in the cosmos, stars) of galaxies floating on into the infinite in the upper right corner. I think that could have been really powerful if you had chosen a different angle and DOF.
Would you want to try and shoot it again from different angles and with a bit more control of the light? You had a good concept for the challenge, it just didn't quite come across and it is sometimes helpful to go back and try again. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

sure, pull my heartstrings.. don't you think this is a little cheap? you have to find power in imagery where it shouldn't exist.. that's the most interesting thing to look at.. this is a photo of something that people can walk up to and see any time of day or night. its gripping, sure. its tragic and its sad. but something infinitely more priceless would be to capture actual emotion. i'm sorry.. its a good picture.. apparantly i'm just mean :-/ |
