Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is an interesting idea for this challenge. However, I don't really find much about your execution that grabs my attention. I agree with some of the other commenters that the cord in the foreground is a bit too much, and that whatever is in the background is a little distracting.

Your subject didn't offer much in the way of color or contrast for you to work with. The whole thing is very monochrome and flat. Perhaps a little more dramatic lighting would have been more effective.

I hope to see more of your work in future challenges!

Hey, how'd you get in my office? That's my phone!

Overall I like this shot. The angle is great, as is the lighting (ah, not my phone - mine has never seen the sun!). The cord across the front adds to the depth nicely.
Only thing I don't like is the background visible above the phone, personally I would crop that out.

The lighting on this shot is incredible!!! I love the feeling that you get that "it's NOT time to work!" It is a little blown out though on the front corner and top of the handset. I do not like the phone cord being so prominent in the front of the shot especially with the kink (funny coil) right in front. If you cropped the front part of the phone cord mostly out it would be (IMHO) more powerful!

Yes, there are days it can wait. In your thumbnail it looks like milk is being spilt on the phone, it's really rather cool looking. Then I get here and it's just the hand set! I like the light effect on the shot and the DOF isn't bad but I'm not really seeing any one thing in focus, really sharp focus. I think if the cord wasn't in the front I would find this more appealing. A 4 is where I started but I'm going to a 6
