Challenge: Fireworks II (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Kodak DX7590
Location: New Years Eve in the Mile High City
Date: Dec 31, 2006
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 80
Shutter: 2
Galleries: Cityscape, Photojournalism
Date Uploaded: Jan 1, 2007

Taken from my office on the 18th floor of a high-rise building. There are floor to ceiling windows which gave a perfect view just above where the fireworks were being shot.

I forgot my tripod at home so this is handheld while lying (very still!) on the floor using my elbows to steady. I also used the timer on this shot so that I wouldn't shake the camera when taking the picture. I took several shots and chose this one because I liked that the capture of the fireworks and the city lights- and being hand held, this was one of only 4 that came out crisp;)

Wish the top was there, & perhaps a portrait crop? Good Luck, 6

Well not bad, I like the city lights in the frame, I do dislike the pretty blown highlights of the fireworks but nothing terrible, also I would have preferred to see the top of them and the building that is half out of the frame to the left is also maybe something I would have framed out of the photo. This actually would probably have appealed more to me if it were shot in portrait mode. Nice shot though, gave it a 6.

Beautiful shot, but I think a long narrow crop, including the entire "sparkler", would draw my eyes less to the city background. I'm perceiving two subjects (city and fireworks) Still, a wonderful panoramic feel to it. 7

Too bad the city came out so dark. Would have made things so much more interesting.
