 A puppy that was abandoned outside a vet office and taken in by the Scottish SPCA while I was working there. He and his brother are absolutely adorable and super friendly. It took about 20 shots to get them to hold still long enough to get a picture and I only ever succeeded in getting one at a time. Still, I think this one came out well as he looks so sad behind bars.

Lots of cropping, desaturation, burning on the puppy, and dodging on the walls and floor.

Too bad you did not move the camera to get a different perspective. The angled side of the grate is distracting and you lost details of the poor pups body on the right. Sell the sad face!

what a sad puppy. i was going to dismiss this as another puppy portrait, but it is a very nice photo - skewed horizon, eye covered by the gate - all adding to the effect. 7

I think that one of the eyes being obstructed ruins the shot somehow.
