 I shot this thermometer lit from the left by an off camera flash on the right and slightly above. It was shot with a +4 macro ring in front of the lens, which has softened the corners.

I tried to use the out of focus areas to my advantage, leading the eye to upper right third of the image, where the mercury indicates.

Just removed some blue fringes (lens? Thermometer glass reflection?). Also played with levels and cropped.

I guess I should make the mercury more visible, but I like the subtlety.

I'm being redundant in my comments, but I just can't get into such literal compositions! The focus is good and the color is good, it's just not very creative. 5

Another temperature gauge for the stock photo album... Would have been better it more feelings of temperature had been conveyed (cool blues, or hot reds...)

Great idea. Good focus. It would have been great to see the mercury hovering at the 39.1 reading.
