 Louisa getting ready for her big day. This shot was taken roughly 22 mins before she got to the altar (judging by the EXIF info in the other shots).

Amazing day, amazing couple and got some fantastic shots. Obviously thanks to Louisa to whom I mentioned that I might be entering her image into an online comp. I am sure she will be pleased with the image.

Converted to BW in Canon DPP. Exported to JPG

In photoshop.

Duplicated bottom layer. This became my work layer.

Cloned out a few TINY blemishes & stray hairs.
Applied Gaussian blur to layer to soften the skin. Applied mask and removed the Gaussian blur from her eyes, mouth, hair, background, eyebrows etc (basically anything that wasnt skin). Opacity of layer dropped to 50% to allow some of the old skin detail to show through.

Dodged/Burnt eyes to have more impact.

Added noise to the whole image to replace that which was lost when I blurred. This made it look far less clinical.

Saved as JPG.

Lens was actually a 50mm 1.4 which I was borrowing. Amazing lens. I want one.

I love this image - great light. Shame about your 2007 goals being broken with your first shot...! I would never have guessed sub-6 for this, but it just goes to show what I know.
