You need to see the lions eyes. Animals eyes are the keys to their souls.....
plus this is overly contrasty.

The focus on your foreground is way stronger than your subject that it overpowered it. I wonder if this will look better if you cropped it tighter and eliminating the big rock on the left portion of the photo. I wish to see that as your outtake once the challenge is done.

Good color but lighting is still on the strong side.

Your title makes this somehow sad? Is he in captivity that he only dreams of being a real lion? Nice palette and treatment of hues.

Why so centered? Also, could have cropped it somewhat tighter, the surrounding is too distracting and you could have done without it.
