~2 hours from the Bay Area (shortest route)
~3.5 hours from the Bay Area (scenic route)
I prefer the scenic route via Hwy 1 through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) which eventually runs along Tomales Bay. If time was an issue the much quicker route is Hwy 101 to Petaluma then East Washington/Bodega Ave/Valley Forge. Hwy 101 is not scenic but the section after leaving Petaluma is very pretty.
