All right, I admit it - I went to the zoo. It's not as if there are any other options in Singapore. Anyway, the Singapore Zoo really is a decent sort of a place as zoos go. The enclosures are large and the barriers between them are difficult to see.

This was taken in a huge 'biodome', so light was low and shooting a bit challenging - hence the high ISO. Maybe I should have switched to my 50 mm 1.8 lens.

I will post out-takes after the challenge as my wife is convinced I should sumbit my ostrich shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club Paul!

Congrats on your highest score and good placement in the challenge.

Overall I'd consider this to be a fine shot. The focus is dead on the face/eyes where you want it and your placement of the subject in the frame was nicely done. I also like the vertical portrait style rather than landscape for this one.

I can see by your camera settings that you were shooting under poor conditions. I think if the light would've cooperated to allow you to shut down the aperture to get more depth of field you'd have fared even better in the challenge. The background is great but the out of focus limb in front is a bit distracting. I realize that the limb isn't the main subject but it does grab my attention.

Like I said before, an overall good shot indeed.

Cheers - Phil

I think it needs to be sharper but, I like it.

beautiful shot, but voting it a bit lower due to not trusting it's in its "natural environment".
