I like the blur in the moving water but feel that some of the twigs should have been removed or maybe just a change of angle, as they are a bit distracting, especially the red one in the bottom right hand corner.

Maybe cleaning a bit the branches would have helped on having only water and ice as your subjects. Then, maybe having a long shutter speed would make the water flow look better, smooth, almost icy, but different. And then getting rid of at least 75% of the title, so that I pay more attention to the photo than spending time reading. And definitely not including so much physics in a shot that tries to be artistic (I guess)...And, in the end, turning everything black and white. Then, I'd appreciate it better. As it is, I spend too much time thinking how it could be better, than just enjoying it as it is.

Skating on thin ice here in meeting the challenge. :) It's a stretch...

This ice has some interesting shapes. Could you get any closer and/or lower for a more unique view? The branch crossing the lower-right corner is distracting.
